Good Bye 2020: It’s The Era of The World Robot Domination
Step One, Dancing

We couldn’t end 2020 without one last surprise. Dancing robots. And as Elon Musk himself said, this is not CGI. For its latest video, the company has taught its haunting robots to dance Do You Love Me by the Contours with an agility that renders our notion of the ‘robot dance’ obsolete.
Atlas the anthropomorphic robot, Spot, the famous quadruped robot, and Handle, the latest robot from Boston Dynamics designed to move boxes, have taken the dancefloor to show that machines can move with style too. And they do it so naturally that they seem computer-generated. In fact, it’s not the first time we’ve seen Boston Dynamics robots dancing, and we’ve already seen Atlas doing parkour and other spectacular stunts, but Do You Love Me’s intricate choreography includes new tricks like balancing on a solo. stand up and dance the twist.
The video lets us see a funnier side of these robots programmed with machine learning, but it contains a disturbing Easter egg that you may have overlooked: in one of the plans you can see a hockey stick on the wall like the one that the engineers Boston Dynamics used to hit Atlas when he was still learning how to balance. It’s amazing how far the robot has come since then.
And that’s it, mates. See you next year. Stay safe. Happy New Year Everybody. Let’s Dance.
